There’s a moment… right before something shifts…Where everything feels heavy, slow, and just a bit too hard.

That’s where we began today.

At 12:30pm, a room full of humans arrived on Zoom carrying all sorts — stress, healing journeys, “I’ll start tomorrow” energy — and within minutes, we were doing something wildly simple and surprisingly powerful:

We started… pushing the car (our metaphor for the heavy thing in our life).

🚗 The Car That Wouldn’t Move (At First…)

You know that feeling when life feels like trying to push a car that’s firmly decided:

“No. I live here now.”

That’s resistance.

That’s the start.

And today, we felt it — not just talked about it.

Because here’s the truth most people skip over:The beginning is supposed to feel hard.

Not because you’re failing.Because you’re starting.

So instead of trying to overhaul our lives in one dramatic, cinematic transformation…We leaned into the tiniest, most doable action.

A push.

Then another.

And another.

🧠 NLP Moment: State First, Story Second

Here’s where it gets deliciously clever.

Your brain loves to tell stories like:

“I can’t do this.”“This is too much.”“I’ve tried before…”

But today, we didn’t argue with the story.

We changed the state.

Through movement, breath, laughter — we shifted the internal chemistry first.

And suddenly…The car that “wouldn’t move” started to roll.

Not because we forced it.Because we built momentum.

🔁 Momentum > Motivation (Every Time)

We played with this idea in real time:

  • Push for 2 seconds → stop → start again (ugh, exhausting 😅)

  • Push steadily → keep going → let momentum build (oooh, now we’re talking)

And there it was.

Stop-start uses more energy than steady, imperfect movement.

Read that again.

Because how often do we do this in life?

Start a habit.Stop.Start again.Get frustrated.Declare ourselves “bad at consistency.”

When really… we just never let the car roll.

⚙️ And Then… The Clutch Moment

We also explored that slightly awkward, very human moment:

You’ve built momentum…You go to “start the engine”…And… you stall it. 🙃

Classic.

But instead of making that mean:

“I’ve ruined it. I’m useless.”

We reframed it:

“Ah. That’s feedback.”

Maybe we needed a bit more momentum. Maybe the timing was off. Maybe we’re learning.

Not failing. Learning.

(Your nervous system exhaled a little reading that, didn’t it?)

🌱 Tiny Steps. Big Shifts.

We grounded all of this in something beautifully simple:

Three mindful breaths. Same time every day.

Not:

  • Meditate for 45 minutes on a mountain that you've scaled alone without safety harnesses like you're Charlize Theron in the Netflix movie "Apex"

  • Become a brand new human overnight

  • Fix your entire life before lunch

Just… three breaths.

Because when you make the step small enough, resistance doesn’t get a say.

And once you start? Well… you already know what happens next.

The car moves.

🌿 Bonus Magic: Nature Knows Things

We also dipped into something a little earthy (literally):

A gentle invitation to step outside…Walk in nature…Maybe even take your shoes off for a moment and feel the ground beneath you.

Cold? Maybe. Worth it? Also maybe. 😄

Because sometimes the fastest way to regulate your nervous system…Is to remember you’re part of something bigger than your to-do list. Personally I've started calling mine a "Ta-dah List" and I do jazz-hands just talking about it.

💛 A Quiet Truth That Landed

Somewhere between the laughter, the metaphors, and the tiny shifts… this truth settled in:

You don’t need to change everything. You just need to start moving.

And keep going… gently, consistently… in the direction that matters.

Even if you’re a little off course sometimes (we all are). Even if it’s messy. Even if you wobble.

Momentum will meet you there.
