The reason for joy
Much research have proved the beneficial effects of laughter on body and mind. Laughter Yoga is a stimulated, simulated meditation on laughter. Using Laughter Yoga you learn to let go of your thoughts and get in touch with your body - you get to know your laughter and yourself on a deeper level.

Laughter Yoga was created in 1995 by Doctor. Madan Kataria, and his wife Madhuri from India. Doctor Madan Kataria was uncovering the effects of various factors on health and wellbeing. He found that laughter was particularly beneficial on both the human physics and psyche. After having experimented with telling jokes in crowds, he concluded that the best method was a simulated, stimulated laughter - Laughter Yoga.

A series of exercises combining breathing exercises, stretching of the ligaments and muscles, and simulated, stimulated laughter turned out to have great potential.

Doctor Madan Kataria discovered that simulated, stimulated laughter was just as effective as the real laughter: large amounts of endorphin - the hormone that makes us feel happy and feel less of any pains we might have. We simply feel better when we increase the amount of endorphin i our bodies.

Doctor Madan Katarias has a vision to create world peace through laughter. One way is to encourage the establishment of laughter clubs, where people can go for free or very cheap and laugh with others. The world holds around 5000 such clubs at the moment. Some 70 of these are in Denmark.
